Description:The Content and Access Specialist provides assistance to patrons in the use of library resources. This is a half time, entry-level position in the Department of Content and Access in the Dykes Health Sciences Library and reports to the User Services Manager. This is a weekend position (Fri, Sat & Sun) to equal approximately 20 hours per week, with varying hours based on shift coverage as needed and during semester breaks, holidays, and inclement weather.
Responsibilities:-Provide outstanding customer service to faculty, clinicians, administrative staff, and students, in use of print and electronic resources in person, via phone, e-mail, and virtual reference. -Work independently with minimal supervision -Responsible for library facility on the weekends and occasionally weekdays, as needed; deal with any problems that may arise, communication with after-hours Facilities/Housekeeping/IT regarding issues, monitoring activity in the building, hand-off to/with Security personnel when coming on or leaving a shift -Basic troubleshooting of library computers and printers -Participate in departmental tasks such as ordering supplies, statistics reporting, etc. -Based on interest, strengths, and need, participate or lead short-term projects identified by supervisor -Other projects as assigned by unit supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:Undergraduate degree (one year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education) Solid customer service experience and a positive approach to customer service and interaction Strong communication skills: oral, written/typed, as well as listening skills Evidence of general technical ability with computers: printers, scanners, basic software/hardware troubleshooting and intermediate MS Office products Skilled problem solver: ability to raise vital questions, gather and assess relevant information, come to well-reasoned conclusions and solutions (demonstrated in cover letter, resume, application and, if applicable, in interview)
Preferred Qualifications:Undergraduate degree in health sciences or other discipline emphasizing critical thinking, service and communication skills Experience working in a library Proficiency in searching academic databases such as PubMed, CINAHL, EBSCOhost products, ProQuest products or others Excel and/or database statistics and analysis experience

Salary & Benefits:Approximately $17/hour + benefits
