Description:Assistant Branch Manager II - Platte City/Weston This Assistant Branch Manager II is responsible for providing excellent customer service to all staff and customers. As part of the collaborative leadership team of the Library, the Branch Manager II interprets and implements the direction of the Library to assigned staff members in the areas of supervision, Board policy, procedures, programs, and collection maintenance.This position keeps abreast of current library trends and services. Also may be in contact with other neighboring library systems to compare policies and procedures and investigate potential new projects. This is a full-time position and the salary range minimum for the position is $40,217.00 plus benefits.
Responsibilities:Managerial Expectations: Supports, promotes, implements, and makes decisions based on established Library policies, guidelines, and programs Knowledge and support of the principles of intellectual freedom Consistently exhibits leadership qualities and professional attitudes and behaviors Consistently acknowledges and appreciates each Library employee’s contributions Develops a high-performance work team in an empowered environment Maintains an attractive, safe and welcoming environment Maintains regular and dependable personal attendance and punctuality based on commitment to the Library Establishes and maintains supportive working relationships with co-workers and other departments/branches Plans and allocates library resources systematically Consistently meets expectations set forth in Non-Exempt Employee Expectations Document Essential Job Functions: Branch Supervision Assigns the work of Branch staff Fosters an empowered work place Interviews applicants and selects Branch staff Arranges appropriate training Evaluates performance of Branch staff Provides coaching and disciplinary action Maintains collaborative relationship with Branch Manager Acts as manager for daily operation Plans and coordinates all functions of Branch Develops and manages implementation of Branch services Performs duties of subordinates Promotes Library in a positive way Continually evaluates Branch processes and services Collects and provides statistics for Library reports Demonstrates fiscal responsibility in management of Branch budgets Performs basic custodial duties, as needed Demonstrates ability to learn consumer technologies Contributes to general neatness of the branch Assists manager with collection maintenance Deselects library materials Continually evaluates branch materials collection Takes responsibility for personal development, including technology Performs other duties, as assigned Non-essential Job Functions: Participates and contributes to system-wide Library committees and activities Promotes the Library to groups and community organizations Attends conferences and workshops Makes recommendations for non-print materials purchases Requirements: Excellent customer service. Problem-solving abilities. Exceptional interpersonal skills. A collaborative leadership style. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently. Proficiency in office productivity and other library operation software. Must be able to work with frequent interruptions and/or changing priorities Excellent organizational skills. Thorough knowledge of trends in the library field. Regular and dependable personal attendance and punctuality.
Minimum Qualifications:Experience and Training: Bachelor’s degree required. 1 year Library and/or supervisory experience preferred. Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office software required
