Description:The Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI), a national leader in visual arts and design education, is seeking applications for this part-time position, 20 hours per week. The position is responsible for developing, cataloging and archiving the college’s digital media collections and additionally for providing user-focused service to library users when staffing the Jannes Library information desk for assigned shifts.
Responsibilities:Development of the digital collections requires digitizing and cataloging local collections and content, in collaboration with faculty and with staff of other college departments, for the purpose of instruction, research and preservation. Tasks include digital copy photography and scanning from print media and slides. Media types include digital images, video and sound; platforms are primarily cloud-based. This position fulfills faculty requests for digital images for classroom use, and is responsible for oversight of departmental digital imaging projects and other digital initiatives as assigned. The visual resources specialist participates in implementation of digital rights management for local intellectual assets. This position accurately tracks and reports statistics on collections and services. Responsibilities include supervising student workers on digital projects, providing regularly scheduled coverage for the Jannes Library circulation desk, overseeing circulation operations and supervising student assistants in the library and computer lab. Maintains current knowledge of image-capture software and Adobe Lightroom; utilizes image management software for efficiency of operations. Maintains mastery of the Shared Shelf platform for cataloging and sharing digital images.
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in art history required. Working knowledge of image file formats and digital media technology for online publishing and file preservation required.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience working with digital media collections in a library setting preferred. Prefer experience working in an academic environment.

Salary & Benefits:$14.00 per hour
