Description:We are looking for motivated, innovative people to help realize our library's mission of providing excellent digital services to our patrons, staff, conferencing facilities, and community centers. Using your experience and training with computer hardware and software you will install, maintain, and repair computers and related equipment and systems for staff, the public, in-house meeting rooms, library vehicles, and Shawnee County Parks & Recreation Community Center computer labs. Responsibilities:Maintain and troubleshoot library computers within the library and remote locations throughout Shawnee County; install, upgrade, and modify computers, monitors, printers and other hardware as well as maintaining associated operational documentation; install, upgrade, and configure operating systems and software; answer helpdesk phones and emails, assist public and staff, resolve complex issues with hardware/software; set up a/v equipment; review daily open work orders and document resolution; perform preventive and corrective maintenance; inventory and service computer and communication equipment; manage other projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:Associate’s degree from an accredited school with two years of help-desk or similar experience and knowledge of current technology; A+ certification preferred; knowledge of Windows XP/7/8, Ethernet networks, Microsoft Office, and Internet browsers; good organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to perform detailed work with accuracy; ability to maintain positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so one gets along with and works cooperatively with patrons, volunteers, community partners, colleagues and supervisors. This position requires bending, lifting/carrying at least 50 pounds, ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force when pushing/pulling materials, reaching, and the ability to climb stairs, talking on the telephone, stationary work at a computer terminal, and regular, reliable attendance. Evening and weekend hours are required. Prefer previous library experience. A current Kansas driver license and insurable driving record are required, as approximately 20 hours per week will be spent working at locations outside the library.

Salary & Benefits:Pay grade begins at $15.35 per hour, with excellent benefits including BCBS health/dental, retirement and cafeteria plan, group life, disability coverage and accidental death benefits. Other optional benefits available at employee's expense include life and cancer insurance and a deferred compensation plan. Position is full time and work schedule will include evenings and weekends.
